Facial rejuvenation - Botox - Dermal fillers

What is a Dermal Filler?

Dermal filler treatments are used to restore bulk to the curves of the face and smooth out wrinkles. The process involves using a very fine needle to inject a hyaluronic acid gel beneath the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a natural component of skin tissue which maintains local moisture content and is gradually reabsorbed over time. For filler treatments it is injected in the form of a transparent viscoelastic gel.The treatment we provide used hyaluronic acid which has been biosynthesised, (i.e. is not of animal origin).

Typically the treatment is used for:

  1. wrinkles around the nose and/or mouth

  2. crows feet around the eyes

  3. lines and wrinkles on the forehead

  4. lip augmentation

What results can I expect, and how soon?

You will notice the filling effect immediately after treatment, although it may take a few days, (with lip augmentation up to 1 week) before the injected gel settles to its final effect. Depending upon the area treated, dermal fillers smooth medium to superficial wrinkles, fill out furrows, restore the sensuality of your lips and smooth the curves of your face. The effects of the treatment usually last between six and nine months.

Who performs the treatment?

Dermal fillers should only be administered by appropriately skilled practitioners. At Smile Solution the treatment is administered by a registered oral surgeon who has received full training in the assessment of patients and use of dermal fillers.

What’s the down time?

There is little or no down time after treatment. Immediately after injection there may be a slight redness, swelling and some tenderness and itching at the site of the treated areas. This is a normal effect of the injection. It is only temporary and usually will disappear within one or two days.

Who is not suitable for treatment?

  1. Anyone who has received treatment with a dermal filler in the same area in the past 6 months

  2. Anyone who is allergic to hyaluronic acid

  3. Anyone who is suffering from active cold sores on their face.

People who have previously had cold sores (herpes simplex) should note that there is always a risk that injecting any product around the lips may cause the herpes to flare up again.

Anyone taking steroids or anticoagulant medication should be aware that there is an increased risk of bruising at the injection site.

Prices

You will be provided with full details of treatment  costs at your initial consultation.

Treatment costs will vary depending upon the area treated and the volume of filler injected.
